This hardy perennial features large 8-9" deep red flowers atop incredibly dark, almost black, foliage. This plant grows best in full sun with moist, well-drained soil. Cut back in spring.
Hardy hibiscus are a zone 5, hardy to -20 degrees Fahrenheit! Keep in mind that plants die all the way to the ground in the winter and do not leaf out until much later in the season than other plants, sometimes as late as July! They love lots of water once they start growing and a very hot and sunny place. They can grow to be up to 6' tall! Just be patient with them in the spring while they're hitting the snooze button!
