The Inspiration Behind Watson’s Original Design Team’s Early Spring Collection
As we start the new year, we are inspired by simple designs that showcase the pottery we’ve hand selected from our vendors and plants inside. Every season we like to offer two different themes so you can always find something that will suit your space.
Our first collection is inspired by geometric shapes and crisp foliage—the perfect counterpart to the Christmas decorations we just packed away. The stone white and concrete pottery designs remind us of trendy California cool while the angular black pot adds some restrained drama. We planted these more simply to allow your eyes space to rest and enjoy the beauty of each element.
Our second collection is for those who want to add a little luxurious maximalism to their decor without the pieces overtaking the space. This collection leans more antique with the Baroque-inspired bronze and teal blue pottery. Blue is a common interior design color, and we’ve chosen this beautiful pot that contains a mix of robins-egg to teal shades for a depth of color. We’ve chosen some more lush plants to really lean into the dramatic vibes while still offering some simplified options for those who want the drama without the fuss.

Plant Pallet
Yellow Foliage: The Laurentii yellow-variegated snake plants add a pop of freshness in the dark days of winter but not too yellow that it clashes with your home decor. This color reminds us of the awakening of spring.
Classic Greenery Plants: We chose consistent fan favorites Pearls and Jade pothos, Freddie Calathea, and Hope Peperomias to add character and charm. These plants are visually exciting enough to stand alone while also pairing well with other plants.
Staple Plants: These plants are staples in all of our seasonal designs for their reliability and stability. Orchids (just replace with a new one in when the first one is done blooming if you want year-round blooms), compact janet dracaenas, and low-maintenance succulents are always part of our collections for their durability and timeless nature.

Thoughtful Parings
Our succulent arrangements are always planted independently or with other plants that like similar conditions, but did you know many houseplants are flexible when it comes to light and water needs? That’s why you’ll find snake plants paired with some of the sturdier ferns or other green foliage plants. We have found our tried-and-true plant pairings to be adaptable and long-lasting friends with the right care. Simply keep your arrangement in medium to high indirect light and spot water accordingly—just give your thirsty fern an extra drink when you water.

DIY Suggestions
Do you want to channel your inner designer? Visit any of our locations to choose your pottery and plants and let us plant it for you at the arrangement bar. To emulate our January collection, choose a geometric pot in a neutral color and one to three understated plants (something yellow to pop, classic greenery as a background, and a staple plant that will anchor your design). If you want to go for a more maximalist look—choose the most beautiful piece of pottery you can find and one statement plant that will complement the colors.
