Thai Purple garlic is a Turban variety of hardneck garlic, which is a sub-species of artichoke garlic. It has a papery shell with purple streaks, and large cloves with a pungent flavor that mellows and sweetens when cooked. It's adaptable to many climates, including hot dry and cold northern climates. Produces delicate tingle on tongue when tasted raw. Originally purchased in Bangkok market.
